A refreshing and healthy ginger peach kombucha mocktail & cocktail recipe that’s equal parts sweet and spicy, low in sugar, and full of good-for-your-gut fermented bacteria! Delicious with or without alcohol, it’s the perfect drink for all your warm weather weekend AND weeknight festivities.
Cheers to that my friends!
As hard as it is to believe that it’s nearly July, it’s even harder to believe that this ‘ol blog here turned one last week.
And if that isn’t enough cause for celebration on its own (read: a drink), America, my mom, two of my best girlfriends, and my birthday are all coming up next month. Ow! Ow!
PLUS it’s officially summer (the solstice was June 21), stone fruit season is in full swing (hello, peaches!), JoJo finally sent Chad home last week on The Bachelorette (peace out, bro!), and I just restocked my Trader Joe’s cinnamon stash (I prefer to never drop below 12 jars minimum and it was frighteningly low with only eight jars total).
So I’m in a celebratory sort of mood to say the least and I’m inviting YOU to join me for a drink—specifically the healthy ginger peach kombucha mocktail or cocktail recipe that I’ve shared below—to honor life’s big and small moments.
Too sappy? Too bad!
Because I’m feeling all sorts of sappy and nostalgic and I’m not about to apologize for it (or slow my roll thankyouverymuch).
Taking time to acknowledge and relish the little wins and small moments just as much as the bigger ones is something that I hope we can all agree is worth doing more often, yes?
Before we get to the recipe and the reasons why I am A-OK calling said drink a “healthy” cocktail/mocktail, I’d like to start with a quick look back at the last year…
The last year since I launched this blog has been one of the most exciting, rewarding, joyful, stressful, emotional (SO. MANY. FEELS.), inspirational, surprising, and humbling experiences of my life. I wouldn’t change one minute of it because I absolutely love, love, love blogging, food photography and styling, writing about nutrition, and recipe development.
It’s what lights me up the most and the reason I became a RDN in the first place. I could work on this blog, content creation, nutrition/food research, and food photography 24/7 (sometimes I kind of do but I’m working on being more balanced…I swear) and be happy as a clam.
It’s afforded me unbelievable opportunities to work with and coach some incredible women, collaborate with favorite brands, and garnered the attention of various media and press.
I’m especially humbled that my work has been featured on Athleta’s Chi Blog, MindBodyGreen, Brit+Co, Buzzfeed, and most recently PEOPLE Magazine (!) and EatClean, as well as in print via Diabetic Living and Delicious Living magazine.
Best of all, blogging has brought SO many incredible people into my life—kick-ass fellow RDs and RDs-to-be, amazing food and wellness bloggers, like minded nutrition nerds and girl boss entrepreneurs, inspiring clients, mentees and mentors, and dedicated readers.
I’m forever grateful for each of the relationships that I’ve built with you guys in the last year.
Hugs x infinity.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

Thank you for indulging errr tolerating my tangential Instagram posts, ridiculous Snapchat stories (are we friends there yet or what?! — @honstlynourishd), and for not judging my absurd cinnamon addiction.
Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to send me an encouraging email or to thank me (always so humbling), being patient when I sometimes take forever to get back to you (I am only one person, after all!), ask insightful questions, make thoughtful comments on blog and recipe posts, prepare my recipes (bless you), and for generally being amazing human beings.
YOU. GUYS. RULE.
And without you, there would be no Honestly Nourished so basically you guys are my BAE. Hashtag mean it.
While I’m only posting 1-2 times a week currently, I plan to start adding another weekly post to share deets on how I became a dietitian, the internship process, finding a job as a RDN or changing your career to a nutrition-related one, private practice/coaching, gut health and sports nutrition…
All topics you’ve emailed me about repeatedly and I’m maaaajorly excited to delve into those topics this year on the blog.

Now, let’s talk about ‘dis healthy ginger peach kombucha mockail & cocktail recipe already!
CHEERS TO GOOD-FOR-YOUR-GUT ‘BOOCH (& HEALTHY HAPPY HOUR)
Cool pureed peaches, warming ginger, and fizzy kombucha makes the perfect mocktail because it’s effervescent, tangy, and feels more celebratory than sparkling water alone—especially if you’re not imbibing in official adult beverages.
It’s perfect for summer soirees and feels joyful and fun whether you drink it as a mocktail or cocktail.
+ Low in sugar.
+ Full of gut healthy probiotics.
+ Seriously simple to make.
+ A great excuse to eat a piece (or two) of candied ginger.
+ A guaranteed crowd pleaser that’s delicious with or without booze.
+ Crazy cute, right? Swoon.
What makes this mocktail/cocktail recipe “healthy?”
Let’s dive in!
You know how I feel about those beneficial gut bacteria, right? They. Are. My. JAM. In fact, the probiotic power in this kombucha beverage is worth celebrating on its own.
If you’ve never tried kombucha, I would highly recommend starting with a bottle of G.T. Dave’s Gingerade. It was the very first one I tried nearly a decade ago thanks to health-food loving then-boyfriend-now-husband’s nudge.
Kombucha is fermented tea and this particular flavor tastes sort of like a sour ginger ale. It definitely has a unique flavor, but I guarantee that once you try it, you’ll find yourself craving it after a few sips. It’s like your body just knows how magical it is!
Some people question whether kombucha is actually healthy because it contains sugars, but what’s important to understand is that the sugars in kombucha serve as fuel for the live/active probiotic bacteria. It’s a win for them and a win for you! Boom.
Ginger is a fabulous flavor addition to any recipe whether sweet or savory entrees, soups, smoothies, or drinks. It’s earthy, complex, and slightly spicy.
The fresh minced ginger (I always have a jar of this brand in our fridge) is soothing to the digestive tract and can help alleviate nausea, cramping, upset stomach, pain, and motion sickness. It’s also been shown to help lower blood sugar levels. Suffice to say that it’s an amazingly medicinal root that gives this mocktail even more health benefits (plus I love that it adds a spicy kick!).
Peaches are a good source of vitamin A (eyesight and antioxidant protection) and vitamin C (skin integrity and immune function), as well as potassium (important for nerve signaling and muscle health). They are also at peak season right now so take advantage and scoop some up at your next farmers market.
Grab a glass (and paper straw!) and let’s get to it.
Serves: 2 mocktails or cocktails
- ¾ – 1 cup frozen peaches
- ¼ – ½ cup filtered water
- ½ tsp minced ginger (I used this brand but fresh works, too)
- 1 tbs honey
- 1 bottle G.T. Dave’s Gingerade Kombucha (or any ginger flavored ‘booch!)
- 1 cup sparkling mineral H2O or club soda
- Ice cubes
- Candied ginger
- Fresh peaches
- Mint leaves
- ¼ cup coconut sugar to coat the rims of the glassware
MAKE IT A COCKTAIL
- Add one of the following...
- 1 ounce clear liquor of your choice (i.e. vodka or gin)
- A splash or two of sparkling wine like my personal and local favorite Gloria Ferrer (the Royal Cuvee is delish!), Spanish cava, or even champagne if you’re feeling fancy!
- 1-2 ounces of rose (because a light pink drink is always a good idea)
- Add frozen peaches, filtered water, honey, and fresh minced ginger to high-speed blender and puree.
- Pour a few centimeters of fresh water or fresh-squeezed citrus juice into a shallow bowl and dip the rim of each glass into it. Then add the coconut sugar to another shallow bowl or dish and evenly coat the moistened glass rim with sugar.
- Fill each glass with about ½ to 1 inch of frozen ginger peach puree, top with equal parts kombucha and sparkling H2O (option to omit either the H2O or kombucha and use all one filler liquid if you prefer), and add a few ice cubes.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves, sliced peaches, and/or a piece of candied ginger speared with a wooden toothpick.
- Add a pretty paper straw and that’s it!
I hope you love this healthy, summery drink as much as I do. Most importantly, I hope that you take a moment to celebrate the small wins (and even mishaps!) in your life today, this week, and every week because there’s always something worth a high five.
So with that, I hope you’ll raise a glass—preferably a glass of this spicy oh-so-summery effervescent beverage—and celebrate the little things, the big things, and everything in between.
Cheers to YOU for showing up for yourself every day and making your health the priority, living honestly nourished, and for choosing healthy (and knowing when the less-than-healthful choice is the most healthful, ahem, #rainbowsprinkles).
After pouring yourself this drink, snap a photo and share the love on social media: Tag me @honestlynourished in your photos and use #honestlynourished #hnbirthdaybooch so that we can all party together! Because if you don’t ‘gram or snap it, did it even happen? Hmm. (KIDDING. Sort of.)
See you back here on Friday for a super simple and healthy patriotic recipe that will make everyone swoon plus a roundup of my go-to grill-friendly recipes.
